Martin Elmquist, Conductor

Born in 1954 in Kopenhagen, Martin studied at the Royal Danish Conservatory under Ole Schmidt and further under Neeme Järwi, Wladimir Delman and Arvid Jansons.
He debuted with the Århus Symphony Orchestra in 1982.
In 1983 Martin moved to Italy where he stayed for 8 years. He became a finalist in the Arturo-Toscanini-Competition in 1985.
He went on to be the conductor for the orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo, Naples in 1989.
In 1991 Martin moved to Luxemburg to teach at the Conservatoire du Nord in Ettelbruck.
He has remained a vital part of the nation’s cultural life ever since and is currently conducting
